MPA, ICS sign MoU on maritime cooperation

The collaboration will also drive outreach efforts to attract young talent.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Singapore Branch have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in maritime education, professional development, and industry Outreach.

Under this partnership, MPA and ICS Singapore will promote professional training for maritime professionals, support capacity-building initiatives, and foster knowledge-sharing.

The collaboration will also drive outreach efforts to attract young talent in the maritime sector.

ICS, currently the only internationally recognised professional body in the commercial maritime arena, sets and examines the Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQEs).

PQE is a flexible and modular programme aimed at equipping maritime professionals with deep knowledge and understanding of the industry.

The MoU was signed by Teo Eng Dih, chief executive of MPA, and Elaine Yu, chairperson of ICS Singapore.
