MPA, NUS extend partnership for three years
The two will introduce new initiatives and attract more innovative startups.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and NUS Enterprise have renewed their partnership for another three years to further develop the Port Innovation Ecosystem Reimagined @ BLOCK71 (PIER71TM) programme.
Under the renewed partnership, MPA and NUS Enterprise will introduce new initiatives to strengthen the programme, attract more innovative startups, and support their growth in Singapore.
These include expanding the global outreach of PIER71TM by collaborating with major maritime innovation clusters and adjacent industries, organising technology and networking events.
The two will also enhance business support services provided by co-working and networking space PIER71TM Landing Pad and catalyse venture capital investment and deals.
Since its launch in 2018, PIER71TM has nurtured over 140 MarineTech startups. These startups have raised over $100m in investments, with 14 startups raising close to $28.9m in 2024.
“Through initiatives like the Smart Port Challenge and PIER71 Ascend, we have created a platform that helps startups innovate and scale in the maritime sector. Last year, the Smart Port Challenge received a record number of nearly 200 proposals,” Benjamin Tee, Vice President for Ecosystem Building of NUS Enterprise, said.
